The Telšiai Yeshiva Joins the Daffodil Campaign for the First Time

Each year on April 19, Marek Edelman — one of the leaders of the 1943 Warsaw Ghetto Uprising — came to the Monument to the Ghetto Heroes in Warsaw and laid a bouquet of yellow daffodils. Quietly. Without speeches or ceremonies. Only memory.

He survived in order to bear witness, and each year he returned to remember those who did not.

Today, this gesture continues in many countries around the world. The yellow daffodil has become a symbol that connects people across nations, generations, and experiences, recalling a complex history of resistance, choice, and human dignity in the face of extreme circumstances.

This act of remembrance now reaches Telšiai.

The Telšiai Yeshiva Joins the International Initiative

For the first time, the Telšiai Yeshiva is joining the international Warsaw Ghetto Uprising remembrance initiative, known as the Daffodil Campaign, organized by the POLIN Museum of the History of Polish Jews.

Each year, the initiative brings together tens of thousands of participants across many countries, inviting them to remember the uprising that began on April 19, 1943 — one of the most significant acts of Jewish armed resistance against Nazi occupation in Europe.

A Symbol that Invites Participation

Today, the yellow daffodil is not only a symbol of remembrance, but also a simple and meaningful way to take part. By creating or wearing a daffodil, individuals engage with history through a personal act of remembrance.

In this way, memory is not only preserved, but actively continued.

Installation and Visitor Participation

From April 15 to 19, a symbolic installation of yellow daffodils will be created in the Telšiai Yeshiva exhibition space. Visitors are invited to contribute to its creation.

Everyone will be able to make their own daffodil, attach it to the installation, or take it with them as a personal token of remembrance. All necessary materials will be provided by the organizers.
